Studio Policies

A legal disclaimer

Thank you for being part of the Brisco Family Music Lessons community! Our policies are designed to create a consistent, organized, and positive experience for all students and families while allowing us to provide excellent music instruction.

Brisco Family Music Lessons reserves the right to update studio policies, schedules, and fees as needed. Any updates will be communicated through email and/or posted on our website.

By enrolling in lessons, students and parents/guardians agree to follow the current studio policies and Code of Conduct.

Lesson Registration & Tuition

Weekly private music lessons are available in 30, 45, and 60-minute increments. Bi-weekly lessons are not available.

Enrollment reserves your student's weekly lesson time and place in the studio.

Lessons follow the published studio calendar, which includes scheduled holidays, breaks, and studio events. Students and families may access their lesson calendar through the MyMusicStaff Portal and sync it with their preferred calendar app.

Additional lessons for auditions, performances, or special events may be scheduled with your teacher as availability allows.

Heartland Charter School Students: Our studio operates with consistent monthly tuition. Tuition remains the same each month throughout the school year and is not adjusted based on the number of lesson dates in a particular month.

All Other Students: Privately paying families are billed on a month-to-month basis. Invoices are sent in advance and are due by the 1st of each month. Because lesson times are scheduled specifically for each student, payment is required in order to maintain the reserved lesson time.

Families are encouraged to review and confirm their lesson schedule before the 1st of each month to ensure the reserved lesson time continues to work with their family's schedule. Any schedule changes should be communicated as early as possible and are subject to teacher availability.

Families who need to discontinue lessons should refer to the Refund Policy (below) and provide the required written notice. Withdrawal from lessons does not constitute a refund or credit for tuition already paid.

Lesson Attendance

Consistent attendance is an important part of musical growth.

Because each student's lesson time is reserved specifically for them, missed lessons due to student absences cannot be rescheduled, refunded, or credited.

Students are expected to arrive on time and prepared with all necessary materials, including instruments, books, folders, and assigned music.

Lessons begin and end at the scheduled time. Arriving early or late does not extend the lesson length. Late pickups may result in additional charges.

Drop-Off & Supervision Policy

Brisco Family Music Lessons is a private music studio and not a childcare facility. We provide instruction only during scheduled lesson times.

Students are welcome to be dropped off for their lessons; however, parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring safe and timely drop-off and pick-up.

For students who are dropped off:

  • The studio assumes responsibility for the student only during their scheduled lesson time.

  • Parents/guardians are responsible for supervision before and after the lesson.

  • Students should not arrive more than 5 minutes before their scheduled lesson time unless prior arrangements have been made.

  • The studio is not responsible for supervision of students who arrive early or remain on the premises after their lesson has ended.

By enrolling in lessons, parents/guardians acknowledge and accept responsibility for their child’s safety and conduct outside of scheduled lesson time while on or near studio property.

Makeup Lesson Policy

Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Brisco Family Music Lessons will no longer offer makeup lessons for missed student absences.

We understand that illnesses, appointments, vacations, and unexpected events happen. This policy allows us to maintain a consistent schedule, reduce scheduling conflicts, and provide the best possible instruction for all students.

If a lesson must be canceled due to a teacher absence, the studio will provide a makeup lesson or another appropriate arrangement.

Illness Policy

Please do not attend in-person lessons if you are experiencing contagious symptoms such as fever, significant coughing, or illness.

For mild illnesses, virtual lessons may be requested when available.

Students may return to in-person lessons after being symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication.

If lingering non-contagious symptoms remain, students may be asked to wear a mask while indoors.

Practice Expectations

Consistent practice is essential for student progress.

Students should practice a minimum of 15–30 minutes per day, with individualized practice goals adjusted as they grow.

Students are encouraged to track practice time through the MyMusicStaff Practice Log.

Performances & Studio Events

Performances are an important part of the music learning experience and provide students opportunities to build confidence and celebrate their progress.

Students may be invited to participate in studio recitals, community performances, and other special events throughout the year.

Photo & Video Permission

Throughout the year, Brisco Family Music Lessons may capture photos or videos of students during lessons, recitals, performances, and studio events.

These images and videos may be used for studio-related purposes, including:

  • Celebrating student achievements

  • Sharing studio activities on our website and social media

  • Promoting Brisco Family Music Lessons

Student names and personal information will not be shared without additional permission.

Families who prefer that their student not be included in photos or videos may notify the studio in writing.

Students and families are expected to maintain a respectful, positive, and encouraging environment during all lessons and studio activities.

Failure to follow studio policies or the Code of Conduct may result in forfeited lessons or dismissal from the studio.

Student Conduct

Brisco Family Music Lessons schedules lessons, teacher availability, and studio resources based on student enrollment.

Because each student's lesson time is reserved specifically for them, withdrawal from lessons does not constitute a refund or credit for tuition already paid.

If a family chooses to discontinue lessons, a 30-day written notice is required. Tuition remains due during the notice period, and the student's lesson time will remain reserved through the end of that period.

Refunds or credits are not provided for missed lessons, unused lesson time, changes in availability, vacations, or withdrawals after enrollment.

We appreciate the opportunity to be part of your student's musical journey and ask that families communicate any changes as soon as possible so we can best serve all students.

Heartland Charter School Students: refunds, exchanges, reimbursements, or changes to purchased services are subject to Heartland Charter School policies. Brisco Family Music Lessons is unable to issue refunds or reimbursements for services purchased through school funding.
